In contrast to the hollow and smooth reef breaks in side to off-shore winds, the majority of waves are beach breaks with onshore winds. Given that most of the riding involves going against the wind, with the sail obstructed by the wave itself, the shape of the X-Wave is designed to sustain speed and momentum through transitions.
With multiple fin and footsraps setup options, X-Waves can be customized to match a range of individual styles and sailing conditions. While initially tailored for performance in sloppy waves, the board‘s shape features enable riders to adjust the turn radius for when the conditions improve. Moreover, the pronounced bottom V shape serves to mitigate the impact of chop, rendering the board suitable even for challenging windy bump & jump conditions.
